Cameron Munster set for monster pay-day after grand final

Cameron Munster is reportedly set to re-sign with the Melbourne Storm after the NRL grand final on Sunday. In a monster deal worth one million per season, the Courier-Mail reported the star five-eighth will pledge his future to Melbourne. Following much speculation and interest from rival clubs, Munster’s manager was inundated with expressions of interest – but it seems he’s made up his mind.
Off the back of a stellar season, Munster was rewarded for his efforts with a Dally M medal for five-eighth of the year. Coming off-contract next season the 24-year-old was tipped to test the market and his value, with clubs able to make offers from November 1. But that seems to be off the table now, with the Storm willing to make the Queenslander one of the highest paid players in the game. Given the retirement of Billy Slater, and potentially Cameron Smith, it would appear the Melbourne club should have extra funds available to retain Munster’s services. “Once we get past the grand final on Sunday it’s full-steam ahead in locking up Munster,” Melbourne’s football operations chief Frank Ponissi said.
