AS Gus Gould assured fans on 100% Footy that Nathan Cleary would resign, the speculation around a reunion with his dad and West Tigers coach Ivan Cleary at Penrith has reignited.NRL.com revealed Penrith were set to extend Cleary Jr.’s tenure at the club until at least 2023 but NRL 360 host Paul Kent said the announcement would raise questions about Cleary Sr.Nathan has reportedly made it clear he wants to work with Ivan and despite backing caretaker coach Cameron Ciraldo, Kent said he saw a path to a reunion before the final two years of the Tigers coach’s contract.“He’s (Nathan) committed to 2023, there’s no
way Cameron Ciraldo, as well as he did at the end of the season, will be committed to 2023,” Kent said.“You know what I do if I was the West Tigers, because they’ve now got a situation where Ivan has got two more years at their club, his son Nathan has committed for four more years at a club where it’s been speculated that Ivan’s heading, you call Ivan in, you say, “are you committed to us for the long haul or just the next two years”.“If it’s just two years, you really have to consider whether you keep him in the position or negotiate now for a release so that way, you’ve got somebody looking after your roster with long term plans.
