Did Mal get his backline make-up right?

After Greg Inglis was suspended for two games due to drink driving and speeding offences, many assumed his squad replacement in Dane Gagai would slot straight into the centres. But Meninga sprung a selection surprise, naming Gagai on the wing with Manly’s Tom Trbojevic in the centres.
Gagai has shone on the flank at representative level and in 2017 created history for Queensland after becoming the first winger to win the Wally Lewis Medal for the Maroons’ best. Trbojevic has also produced impressive performances on the wing, especially for the Blues in this year’s Origin series. The Sea Eagles superstar would no doubt shine wherever you play him and he’s probably a better defensive option at centre.
